RESILIENCE, GROWTH, AND SUSTAINABILITY IN THE POST COVID-19 ERA: THE ROLE OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

The global landscape has undergone tremendous transformations in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic has engendered and exposed the vulnerabilities in our economic structures, healthcare systems, and overall social fabric. As we navigate the complexities of the post-pandemic era, it is imperative to harness the potential of the social sciences to build resilience and provide the impetus for growth and sustainability for the future.

This resilience building agenda is crucial to lessen the impact of the uncertainties ranging from climate change, geopolitical, and civil unrests to technological advancements and/or disruptions. Positioning the Social Sciences as a powerful force requires a resilience building agenda that extends beyond mere survival to encompass the capacity for growth, adaptation, and positive transformation in the face of adversity.

It involves understanding the vulnerabilities that exist within societies and developing strategies to mitigate risks, enhance preparedness, and foster inclusive and sustainable development. Furthermore, it requires identifying tools to tailor resilience-building strategies and pathways to the specific needs and contexts of diverse populations.

In essence, the theme, Resilience, Growth, and Sustainability in the Post COVID-19 Era: The Role of the Social Sciences serves as a call to action, inviting stakeholders across academia, policy, and practice to engage in a collaborative exploration of the transformative potential embedded in the social sciences.

It is against this background that we welcome contributions that delve into innovative methodologies, interdisciplinary collaborations, and paradigm shifts that illuminate the transformative potential of the social sciences in shaping resilient post-pandemic societies on any of the sub-themes listed below:
